About us

MSC Gate Bremerhaven

MSC Gate acts as a gateway terminal for import and export containers in the European market as well as for transhipment cargo.

With an area of 600,000 m² for handling and storing containers and a quay length of 1,220 m, MSC Gate has an annual handling capacity of 2.0 million TEU.

In our daily business, MSC Gate places great emphasis on safety and sustainability, for which we recently invested in the acquisition of 35 state-of-the-art hybrid straddle carriers.

MSC Gate Bremerhaven was founded in 2004 as a joint venture between EUROGATE GmbH & Co. KGaA, KG and TiL Terminal Investment Limited. Both shareholders recently extended their long-term commitment to MSC Gate until at least 2048.

Vision

Our vision is to become an integrated service provider for our customers’ network through operational excellence, efficiency and reliability.

Terminal Info

MSC Gate is located in the southern part of Bremerhaven’s Container Port. With 10 super post panamax container cranes and 2 megamax container cranes, a modern fleet of straddle carriers, including 35 latest-generation hybrid straddle carriers, and a water depth of 14-15.5 m, the world’s largest container ships can be handled here.

As a transhipment hub, we also offer our customers a storage capacity of more than 10.000 TEU for empty containers in addition to sufficient reefer connections. Our advanced terminal operating system and a motivated workforce round off the excellent service we provide to our customers.

Trains and trucks are also welcome at MSC Gate. Smooth arrivals and departures combined with a modern slot booking system ensure first-class truck turnaround times.

MSC Gate already handles a significant volume of rail traffic. The new rail terminal, which will be commissioned in 2025, will create even more capacity.

Other services such as container repairs, PTI for reefer containers and storage of all types of DG cargoes will be available on site. A fully equipped Container Freight Station is located directly on site and is also available to our customers.

Outlook

Ready for the future

In the coming years, we want to further reduce our CO2 emissions, for example by using alternative fuels for our straddle carrier fleet. In the long term, we want to achieve this goal by investing in automated stacking cranes as well as by modernizing horizontal container transport.

In addition, MSC Gate customers are expected to be able to use shore-side power supply (cold ironing) for container ships from 2024.
